Preschool Beginner and Advanced - Preschool Aquatics aims to promote the developmentally appropriate learning of fundamental water safety and aquatic skills to children ages 4-6. Red Cross Preschool Aquatics teaches aquatic and safety skills in a logical progression throughout the course. 

Preschool Beginner Classes

Monday 5:15-5:40pm

Learn-to-Swim Level 1:

Introduction to Water Skills - Orient participants to the aquatic environment and help them gain basic aquatic skills. Help participants begin to develop positive attitudes and safe practices around water. Ages 6 and up.

Learn-to-Swim Level 2:

Fundamental Aquatic Skills - Build on the basic aquatic skills and water safety skills and concepts learned in Level 1.

Learn-to-Swim Level 3:

Stroke Development - Build on the skills learned in Levels 1 and 2 to help participants achieve basic water competency in a pool environment.

Learn-to-Swim Level 4:

Stroke Improvement - Improve participants’ proficiency in performing the swimming strokes that were introduced in Level 3.

Youth Advanced:

Students in this group are intermediate to advanced swimmers and should have successfully completed Level 4. These students should be able to swim at least 25 yards of each of the six strokes (Freestyle, Backstroke, Breaststroke, Butterfly, Elementary Back, Sidestroke).

Swimmers in this class will continue to develop all six swim strokes, with a focus on stroke technique, developing open turns, flip turns, improving head first entries, under water swimming, survival swimming, treading water with various kicks, and building endurance. Swimmers will also be introduced to basic swim sets and equipment that is used for fitness swimming.
